What is this musical instrument - help?

One of my firends has sent me a musical instrument from her travels around the world but not told me what it is. It could be from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Kenya or Uganda. Same length as a chopstick with one bulbous end. There is a prong from the top end to the middle and when you hit the tip of it on a surface (like a drum stick) it makes a noise similiar to a tuning fork. It is made out of wood but I have no idea what it is called or if I am playing it properly. Any help would be good
